Coastal Engineering Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking a college student interested in the fields of coastal and marine engineering and survey, for a paid summer internship. What is Coastal Engineering? It is the broad engineering knowledge required for the construction, protection, and maintenance of coastal communities and harbors, the development of offshore resources, and the preservation of estuarine and coastal areas.
The intern will participate in field data collection to include bathymetric and hydrographic surveys, topographic surveys, submerged aquatic resource surveys, and assist in data processing, performing engineering calculations, permitting, and construction observations. Interns will learn to operate computer-based data collection software, traditional and GPS survey equipment, and other field tools and equipment.
The intern will be mentored and develop skills in AutoCAD by assisting with the processing of survey data, creation of 3D tin models, and perform volume calculations. Interns will participate in the drafting and review of technical reports. Interns will develop the ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction plans and specifications. Interns will be exposed to ongoing construction projects with regular construction observations and surveys.
The intern will be required to work outside, in varying weather conditions, and for extended periods of time. Construction sites require the use of personal protection equipment, most equipment will be provided by CEC. Intern may be required to provide select items necessary to participate. SURVEY PARTY CHIEF – Bonita Springs, Florida Office
COASTAL ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS is hiring a Full-time position for a Party Chief with a minimum of 3 years experience in responsible charge. Applicant will function as the leader of a survey crew; must be able to work in close cooperation with the Survey Manager, Technician and other subordinate staff; perform various types of surveys using total stations, data collectors, and other conventional survey equipment. GPS experience a plus. Types of surveys include boundary, rights-of-way, topographic and construction staking.

CADD DESIGNER in Bonita Springs, Florida Office
SUMMARY: Produces survey and design drawings and maps and exhibits in support of the coastal, marine, survey, and environmental projects undertaken by the company. Performs non-routine and complex technical assignments. Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs and/or layouts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment • Prepare concept plans, permit drawings, design plans, and construction plans • Prepare existing condition surveys, sketch of descriptions, legal descriptions, stake-out plans, and related survey drawings and deliverables • Calculate design data and quantity estimates • Prepare graphics, maps, and exhibits for reports • Prepare color renderings • Responsible for quality assurance and quality control measures for CADD drawing preparation • Provide technical support and training to others in area of expertise • Analyze drawings to determine technical adequacy of drawings and designs • Assist with site inspections including preparing field notes and sketches of project features
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma and Technical Training with CADD or equivalent in job experience. Experience with computers, interfacing with electronic equipment, and familiarity with technical computer programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, construction plans, construction specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, clients, and stakeholders. Have excellent written and oral communication skills (English).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver’s license.
